DiscipLeship Stops: Community

Looking for a way to connect with fellow UVCers outside the city limits? This monthly group strives to bring people together and build community around the centerpiece of stories. Each month’s gathering will focus on a particular book, story or reading to get the discussion started on the joys and obstacles of becoming a faithful Christian in today’s world.

About Abbi:  Growing up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Abbi visited Oak Park on an architectural field trip in high school and decided then that she would one day live there.  About 10 years and 2 states later, she and her husband arrived in Oak Park and couldn’t be happier.  Abbi enjoys trying new restaurants, making green smoothies, Basset Hounds, and amateur home design.  Her vocational passion is in psychology and careers and helping others figure out what they want to be when they grow up!

About Carol P: Currently in the full throes of raising her four young children, Carol is attempting to embrace her minivan as a status symbol and not worry about the general chaos of her life. She is a blogger, a freelance writer, and novice photojournalist. In her spare time, she loves to read and finds cooking and baking relaxing, especially when the food can be shared among friends. She lives with her husband, children and chocolate lab in west suburban Elmhurst.

About Carol J:  Carol is looking forward to being part of a life group in Oak Park where she works for a nonprofit organization.  A former school teacher and banker, she seeks to immerse herself in community organizing this year as she studies nonprofit management at Roosevelt University. In her spare time, Carol frequents small, often undiscovered, urban music venues to hear live gospel, jazz, ska, and the blues.
