Exciting and Inspirational

We thoroughly enjoyed the service at Urban Village Church — it was exciting and inspirational. It is refreshing to experience a church service where love, community and inclusion are central themes. The message was relevant and moving, and the testimony was a very nice touch–having lay folks speak about their personal experiences. I was very pleased to see more racial diversity than I am used to in church. AND THE MUSIC!!!!! THE MUSIC WAS AWESOME!!!

A new church home

I must say, I have not felt “at home” in a church in quite some time (6 years ago!), but I felt at home at Sunday’s UVC service. I am very excited about UVC. Six years of waiting, seeking, struggle, frustration, and prayer has paid off!

The worship was emotional

The worship was a very emotional event for me and something that had not happened in many, many years. I feel like I have found a “home” in Urban Village and am so happy that we found each other.

I’m seeking a church where I can grow

Being gay and Christian has its own unique challenge. Many churches would flat out reject me; others might accept me, but the relationship would be uneasy and awkward, underlaid with a hope that I would hop on the change train. I’m seeking a church where I can grow in my faith as a believer and Christ follower, a place to both receive and contribute without the pressure of feeling I have to change or “straighten up.
