Questions

Where are you located?
Though we’re rooted in downtown Chicago, we hope to be a regional church that draws people from the whole city and collar suburbs. Our Sunday morning service is held Downtown at the Spertus Institute, 610 S. Michigan (click here for public transit and parking information). Our Sunday evening service will be held, starting October 17, in Wicker Park at 1502 N. Hoyne (@ LeMoyne). And, our “offices” are in coffee shops all over the city.

When do your services begin and how long are they?
Our Sunday morning service starts at 10:15 a.m. and lasts about 70 minutes.  Our Sunday evening service will start at 5:30 p.m. and last about 70 minutes as well.

What will the services be like?
Check out our Downtown Worship page and Wicker Park Worship page to answer this question and more!

Are you connected to a particular denomination/tradition?
Our goal is to be a multi-denominational community where people from diverse spiritual traditions or with no religious experience feel at home. We are a United Methodist Church, a Christian Protestant denomination that emphasizes God’s love for all people, the intersection of spirituality and justice, and the calling to make a difference in the world.

We are a Reconciling Congregation, working to break down all the boundaries that people use to exclude and discriminate. We welcome skeptics and believers, people of all races and classes, people of all cultures, backgrounds, and sexual orientations.

How can I be a part of Urban Village Church?

Join our Launch Team. We’re building a huge movement of people—teachers, artists, business people, musicians, tech geeks, thinkers, planners, doers, church people, secular people, frustrated- with-organized-religion people, gay and straight people, and on and on.

You’re invited to help out, to be part of something bigger than yourself. If you fear you’re not really the right person for the job, because you think you’re not smart enough, creative enough, or whatever enough, take a chance: you may be surprised!

Take part in a small group, or social or service opportunity.

You can also support us financially.
